TÜV SÜD acquires SustainCERT to strengthen digital carbon verification

We would like to congratulate TÜV SÜD and SustainCERT on the successful acquisition of SustainCERT by TÜV SÜD. The transaction combines TÜV SÜD’s global assurance and certification expertise with SustainCERT’s accredited verification capabilities and digital Measurement, Reporting and Verification (dMRV) platform, strengthening TÜV SÜD’s position in global carbon markets. 

Prior to the deal announcement, the OMMAX team supported TÜV SÜD with a comprehensive Technology, Data & AI Due Diligence on SustainCERT: 

• Assessment of product strategy, platform architecture, enterprise application and integration landscape, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, software development processes and code quality
• Deep-dive review of the technology organization, product roadmap, data infrastructure, and AI/ML and generative AI capabilities, including alignment with scalability and enterprise-readiness requirements
• Identification and prioritization of key technology risks, including security gaps and scalability limitations, adoption constraints, and key-person dependencies 
• High-level assessment of technology spend, budget structure, and resource allocation to evaluate investment adequacy and effectiveness
• Development of a prioritized 100-day technology value-creation plan, with initiatives mapped by urgency and implementation effort to guide post-acquisition execution

SustainCERT is a Luxembourg-based accredited Validation and Verification Body founded in 2018. The company verifies carbon projects and Scope 3 value-chain interventions, bringing together deep domain expertise and specialized digital solutions. Its platform digitizes audit workflows, evidence management, and stakeholder collaboration, enabling faster, more transparent, and scalable verification. 

Through the acquisition, TÜV SÜD is expanding its digital carbon verification capabilities and combining its global assurance expertise with SustainCERT’s accredited verification services and digital infrastructure. Customers are expected to benefit from more predictable verification processes, greater transparency and traceability throughout the project lifecycle, and stronger assurance of data quality through standardized, auditable workflows.
